• A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR BRIAN •

July 8, 2020

Dear Church,

As are you, we continue to watch with concern the COVID-19 case numbers in Fresno County. We take the virus seriously, and are taking all reasonable precautions as we gather on Sundays. Because the numbers are rising, we are more strongly asking for compliance on the use of face coverings.

As you’ve likely heard or read, the state of California recently released a document regarding worship practices in churches. Some of my local pastor colleagues have agreed the document is confusing in its directive, and many of us believe corporate worship (singing and praying together) is an essential function of the gathered church.

So, again, as we gather this Sunday, we expect to worship together. We have good distancing, and because we will ask you to wear a mask when interacting with others and when singing, we believe we are not creating a setting for significantly elevated COVID infection risk.

That said, we do continue to make our worship service available live and recorded on YouTube. The state document does say we can “Consider practicing these activities through alternative methods (such as internet streaming) that ensure individual congregation members perform these activities separately in their own homes.”

As has been the case for the last several weeks, if you are not comfortable gathering in a worship setting where some people may sing, I recommend you continue to worship with us online. Search for Bethany Church Fresno on YouTube.com.

I leave you with this passage, from last Sunday: “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.” James 1:2-3

For the King,

Brian W
